Total Knee Replacement


A total knee replacement is an operation that replaces an arthritic knee joint with prosthetic one. Mr Gardner can offer Mako robot assisted knee surgery.

If you cannot sleep at night because of pain and are unable to do the activities you want to do a total knee replacement is a good operation for pain relief and to get you back to enjoying walking again.

 
 

Partial Knee Replacement


A partial knee replacement is an operation that replaces one of the three parts of the knee joint with an prosthetic one.

Mr Gardner will advise if the pattern of arthritis in your knee is suitable for this surgery and if it can be performed with a Mako robot.

Patients recover from this surgery quicker than a total knee replacement and more patients return to sport.

 
 

Total Hip Replacement


A total hip replacement is an operation that replaces an arthritic hip joint with a prosthetic one. Patients usually have good pain relief in days and get back to walking normally within a few weeks.

Total hip replacement is an excellent operation for pain relief and allows you to get back to previous activities and sports.

 
 

Knee Arthroscopy


Knee arthroscopy is key hole surgery to diagnose and treat damaged cartilage in the knee. Mr Gardner trims the cartilage that is getting caught in the joint and relives the pain.

This surgery is done as day case and you are in and out of hospital on the same day. Patients can get back to driving within days and resume work and sports within weeks depending the type of surgery performed.

If you have pain from you knee arthroscopy is an excellent operation to get you back to sport and the activities you want to do.

 
 

Revision Hip and Knee Replacement


A revision hip or knee replacement is an operation that replaces a worn out total joint replacement with a new one. Mr Gardner removes the worn implants with new ones.

The time have to revision is when the benefits of surgery outweigh the risks of surgery.

Mr Gardner will discuss the risks and benefits prior to surgery. Mr Gardner has a specialist interest in the revision of metal on metal implants and revisions due to fractures of the bone around implants.  

 
 

Hip Injection


A hip injection is day case surgery where Mr Gardner under x-ray control passes a needle into the hip joint and injects local anaesthetic and steroid. This can be for diagnosing the cause of pain or to treat hip arthritis.
